The Hebrews have an expression that says, "He who Sings, Prays Twice."
L. Nelson Bell is quoted as saying, "Power in the Christian life
depends upon our communication with the source of power."
Psalm 62:11 tells us - "Power belongeth unto God..."
What better way to communicate with God, the Source of All Power, than
to Sing Praises unto His name?
In Psalm 9:2 King David declared - "I will Sing Praise to Thy name, O
Thou Most High." David had the right concept of God. He is the Most
High God. Therefore He is greater than ALL my problems and the various
situations that I face. No enemies can possibly withstand Him.
In the remainder of the Psalm, we see this perspective of God as being
the Most High repeatedly reflected through his words -
"When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at Thy
presence."
"For Thou hast maintained my right and my cause..."
"Thou hast rebuked the heathen..."
"He hath prepared His throne for judgment."
"He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness."
"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of
trouble."
"...He forgetteth not the cry of the humble."
"...Thou...liftest me up from the gates of death."
"The LORD is known by the judgment which He executeth: the wicked is
snared in the work of His own hands."
"For the needy shall not alway be forgotten..."
Do you need justice today? Are you feeling oppressed by the enemy with
unfair treatment coming your way? God can certainly handle that. He is
the Most High God. Do as David did and begin to Sing Praises to the
Most High God.
Psalm 27:6 says - "I will sing, yea, I will Sing Praises unto the
LORD."
In this particular Psalm, David reflected a determination of his will
that he would Sing Praises. What was the source of this determination?
Throughout the Psalm we sense David's natural fears of facing so many
enemies greater than Himself. He admits his own weaknesses but does not
stop there. He looks completely and absolutely to the Lord Who is his
"Light", "Salvation", and "Strength" to see him through unto Victory
and to be his Defense against his enemies.
"The LORD is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is
the Strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
"When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foe, came upon me to eat up
my
flesh..."
"Though an host should encamp against me...though war should rise
against
me..."
"For in the time of trouble He shall hide me..."
"When my father and my mother forsake me..."
"...false witnesses are risen against me..."
In spite of these horrendous attacks from the enemies, he finds it
appropriate at this time to determine in his heart that he will Sing
Praises unto the LORD. Because he initially sought God wholeheartedly,
he
had total confidence that God would protect and keep him in safety, and
give him Total Victory over his enemies.
"And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about
me..."
"Therefore...I will Sing Praises Unto the LORD."
Do you feel that you are under severe attack of the enemy of your soul?
Seek the Lord with all of your heart. See Him as David did as the ONLY
answer to your dilemma. He is your Hiding Place. He is your Defense. He
is your Refuge. Then with eyes of Faith in this Mighty Warrior, take
hold of the Victory that is yours because you belong to the Lord. Determine
at this point that you will follow David's example and begin to "Sing
Praises Unto The LORD."
Psalm 47:6 says - "Sing Praises To God, Sing Praises: Sing Praises Unto
Our King, Sing Praises." Four times the Psalmist directed us to "Sing
Praises." When we glance over this particular Psalm we see why. This
Psalm emphasizes that God Is In Total Control.
"For the LORD Most High is Terrible; He is the Great King over all the
earth." He is the "King of ALL the earth."
"God reigneth..."
"...the Shields of the earth belong unto God..."
"He shall subdue the people..."
How can we not Sing Praises when we realize that the God Who is King
over ALL the earth is on our side?
Romans 8:31 - "If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Psalm 68:4 says - "Sing Unto God, Sing Praises to His Name: Extol Him
that rideth upon the heavens by His name Yah..." In this particular
Psalm of David, we see an emphasis on God's provisions for His people.
"Blessed be the LORD, Who Daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God
of our salvation."
What are some of these benefits?
He is a "Father of the Fatherless, and a Judge of the Widows..."
He "setteth the solitary in families..."
God sends His "Rain" - both physical and spiritual.
He gives His "Word." "Thy God hath commanded thy Strength..."
"...the God of Israel is He that Giveth Strength and Power unto His
people..."
Are you fatherless or a widow today? Are you feeling all alone with no
one to care for you and love you? GOD CARES. He is concerned about
those who are without, those who are lacking in fellowship and relationships.
Are you hungering and thirsting for the "Rain" of the Holy Spirit to
quench the thirsting of your soul? Do you need a "Word" from the Lord
at this time? Are you feeling so weary and worn-out from the battles?
The Lord gives "Strength" and "Power." Begin to do as David did and
Sing Praises to Him that "rideth upon the heavens." It won't be long before
Jesus will visit you with His daily load of benefits - exactly what you
need at this hour.
There are many more Psalms to examine that exhort us to Sing Praises.
But let us look at one last Psalm and see what happens to those who Sing
Praises unto their God.
Psalm 92:1 says - "It is a Good Thing to Give Thanks unto the LORD, and
to Sing Praises unto Thy Name, O Most High."
Then the Psalmist says in verse 10 - "But my horn shalt thou exalt like
the horn of a unicorn: I shall be anointed with Fresh Oil."
Why should we Sing Praises unto our God?
Isaiah 10:27 - Because when we Sing Praises, the Anointing of the LORD
that destroys the Yoke of Bondage is released. Our enemies perish. The
workers of iniquity are scattered. The righteous flourish. God makes
His people to triumph.
Are you bound by a Yoke of Bondage today? Do you know of someone who
is? ONLY the Anointing of the Holy Ghost can Destroy that Yoke. Begin to
Sing Praises unto God. God has instructed us through His Word that He will
Anoint us with Fresh Oil that will then enable us to pray effectively
for people who are bound today, BUT it will come through our Singing
Praisesto our God.
Once again, I would like to remind us of the words that we read at the
beginning of this message - "He Who Sings, Prays Twice."
Do you want your prayers to be Increased in Power and Effectiveness?
Begin to Sing Praises unto God. Then get ready for the Miraculous for
God will SURELY come through for you as He did for David.
Remember - He is No Respecter of Persons.
